FOR AFTER HOURS MEDICAL CARE - 94295677
Melbourne Medical Deputising Service [MMDS] provides after hours medical care to patients in their own home when their regular doctor is not available. MMDS has been doing this for over 30 years and covers the greater Melbourne Metropolitan area plus Geelong.
All our doctors are fully qualified, have full medical defence and are trained in Australia. They are able to provide comprehensive medical care in the patient’s own home which has a significant impact on public health access to Emergency Services such as Ambulance Victoria and Public Hospitals.
Melbourne Medical Deputising Service was established over 30 years ago; we are an institution in Melbourne and have a reputation for integrity. Fully accredited by the RACGP standards for General Practice we are able to provide documentation for PIP and Accreditation to our GP clients.
MMDS gives patients access to appropriate medical care on a 24-hour basis (as is required of general practice) and at the same time allows GPs quality time to maintain essential work-life balance.
MMDS takes its responsibility very seriously ensuring that patients of client GPs receive continuity of care. MMDS accepts the duty of care to make sure that patient care delivered by the MMDS clinical team is consistent with what the patients would expect from their own doctor.
MMDS has sophisticated purpose built software that is the envy of other deputising services in Australia. Timely reports of all consultations are uploaded to the patient’s regular general practitioner the next day ensuring continuity of care. The safety of our afterhours doctors is critical to Melbourne Medical Deputising Service and well developed protocols are in place underpinned by MMDS’s policy and procedures manual. A comprehensive induction program with ongoing debriefing and peer review sessions occurs for all new doctors. MMDS is an accredited provider with the RACGP QA&CPD program and runs monthly seminars to inform doctors on how to deal with the unique challenges of deputising work.
